MIGRATION MANAGER

The missing link for every migration project

MIGRATION MANAGER

OVERVIEW

Migration Manager

More Info

Migration Manager, is a tool that was developed specifically to support the end-to-end desktop migration process, automating key activity streams, thereby significantly reducing the time and cost involved while at the same time greatly increasing control & visibility over who is migrated when and how. This directly benefits business continuity as well as user productivity.

Key Benefits

  • Reduce the number of resources required
  • Obtain a single view of migration
  • Identify how each user group is connected to the rest of the infrastructure
  • Optimise migration workflow
  • Enables rationalise & consolidate yours applications
  • End-to-end process visibility
  • Detailed customisable reporting
  • Drastically reduce migration time

A desktop migration entails a number of complex activity streams that need to be properly planned, coordinated and executed.  Managing all of these activities in line with the objectives and priorities of the business is an enormous task if conducted manually.
Migration Manager, is a tool developed specifically to support the end-to-end desktop migration process, automates these activity streams, thereby significantly reducing the time and cost involved while at the same time greatly increasing control over who is migrated when and how.  This directly benefits business continuity as well as user productivity.
In order to fully understand the implications of upgrading a user’s desktop a large amount of information is required. Although this information originates in several disparate sources it somehow needs to be collated, integrated and processed if it is to provide the visibility required.
Migration Manager’s discovery function overcomes this challenge by automatically pulling data from the various management tool databases (Active Directory, SCCM etc.) to provide a single view of the entire IT architecture i.e. users, applications, data, peripherals and locations etc.
Once this picture is obtained, users can then be combined into groups in line with business requirements, and the prioritisation of applications for migration can be streamlined and made far more effective since Migration Manager makes clear who will be affected by what application being migrated, not just at the desktop level but across the IT architecture.
On the basis of this user group mapping, Migration Manager schedules all activities that need to take place in order for a user’s migration to be successfully completed, and validates each of these in turn, giving a clear, automated view of progress for management purposes.
Carrying out the discovery, mapping, scheduling, migration and validation required without automation would be an extremely costly and time-consuming undertaking, with a far greater risk of error and therefore further delay through corrections.  Moreover, the threat that these errors would pose to business continuity and productivity would be substantial.
