IT STRATEGY & Roadmaps

Creating a Business Enabling IT Strategy

IT STRATEGY & ROADMAP

Introduction

An IT strategy should provide the plan, or blue print against which IT develops new systems or elements of the IT infrastructure.  However, with an ever increasing choice of technologies and strategies organisations find it difficult to choose.

The choices made will affect your users as well as IT in terms of functionality, complexity and costs.  Add in to this the fact that most organisations dont have a clear 'start point' its no wonder its no simple task.

We have developed a technology architecture and roadmap service that is a practical and cost effective way to help organisation understand where they are and how to start in terms of technology road-mapping and refresh.

Our experiences are that organisations find documenting and managing Technology Architecture and Roadmaps can be a daunting and costly task and that despite there being a number of mature and valuable frameworks and methods such as TOGAF and Zachman etc, the technology view is often incomplete or too complex.

Too often organisations get lost in future vision definition and current architecture mapping, losing real opportunities as a result.

Through our structured approach, tools and experience the questions and requirements we address through this type of work and engagement are:
  • Describing the technology architecture
  • Understanding the cost baseline as well as saving and simplification opportunities
  • Aligning technology to the business and systems architecture
  • Setting targets for projects, suppliers and internal teams
  • Defining, communicating and managing technology roadmaps
  • Managing and communicating technical standards and governance
We combine our processes and accelerators with our experience to helping clients develop practical, real-world IT and technology strategies.  This enables us to help clients quickly resolve issues and answer the big questions questions, and develop simple deliverables that can be used at a senior level to communicate plans as well as at a more technical level to drive technology based decisions.

The model above shows a small part of our Accelerator.  Please contact us to discuss how we can help you.
