What’s Stopping Organisations Migrating to Windows 7?

According to Netmarketshare’s latest figures, Windows 7 has now increased its share of the global desktop operating system market to 38.12 per cent (up from 26.36 per cent in April 2011), while Windows XP use has reduced to  45.39 per cent of the market (down from 55.84 per cent in April 2011). [1,2,3,4,5]
 
Technical support for Windows XP ended in 2009 and Microsoft’s target end of life date is 8th April 2014. This will mean that organisations running Windows XP will no longer receive security patches from Microsoft after April 2014 and independent software vendors are unlikely to support it. 6, 7 This begs the question of when and how organisations should plan their migration to Windows 7.

How can airports avoid flaky mobile communications during snow disruption?

Last November heavy snows caused disruption to thousands of passengers, stranded at UK airports as flights were cancelled and airport operators battled to clear tons of snow from runways.
 
At the time I was struck by news reports that delayed passengers were being supplied with free food, hot drinks and free WiFi.
